Peren observes World Music Day

Music aficionados from different walks of life irrespective of age were treated with their old time favourites as renowned musicians from across the district took the stage to mark the World Music Day at Peren Town Hall on June 21. The event was initiated by Peren District Music Society (PDMS).
The programme began with piano recital by students of Tutorial Music Academy, Peren town, namely Ms Mechie and Ms Pauthilungliu, followed with guitar recital by Ichubuibe.
In the solo, singers such as Keyichitube, Daudau, Ipungba, Kawizen, and Wanbangtemjen belted out oldies and contemporary to the much delight of the audience. Folk music was also presented by Gaigwang, while in the band category VIII RIP and PDMA enthralled the spectators and held them asking for more.
Ramziu Meru, retired Joint Commissioners of Taxes and guest of honour, spoke on the importance of music which was passed down since ancient time. He said life will be empty without music, adding music is antidote to life’s various situations. He encouraged the youngsters to take up music as profession.
The event was co-sponsored by Azeu N Hau, Rangsilang Ikie and Haiziena Meru.
Meanwhile, PDMS has acknowledged and expressed gratitude to all the participants and all those who have worked tirelessly to make the event a grand success.
