Dimapur, July (EMN): Peren observed World Population Stabilization Fortnight from July 11 to 24.
During the fortnight family planning camp was conducted at District Hospital Peren, CHC Jalukie, Athibung PHC, Tening PHC, Azailong PHC, Ntuma PHC, Mbaulwa PHC, Dungki PHC, Heningkunglwa PHC, Poilwa PHC, and Bongkolong, Mhainamtsi, Samzuiram and Gaili Sub centres.
Publicity was made through miking and announcements were made through the Church platform in the district headquarters and in block level. Banners were also placed block wise to create awareness. ASHA co-ordinators conducted Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in 38 villages on family planning. They also conducted Inter personnel Communication (IPC) in all the villages for intensive awareness at the grass root level.
Monitoring and supervision was also carried out by Dr. Denis Hangsing, CMO and Dr. Khrielasanuo, District Program Officer DPO UIP/RCH to the Health Units. Medical Officers and Nurses conducted counseling in their respective health units.
During the camp condoms, oral pills and emergency pills were distributed. A total of 24 laparoscopic ligation (permanent method) and 47 IUCD (temporary method) family planning services was performed during the Fortnight.
