Peren launches malaria elimination programme

Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP), Peren, has launched the malaria elimination programme on November 13 in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, New Peren.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Denis Hangsing, Chief Medical Officer and co- chairman of DTF for malaria elimination, who also delivered the welcome address.
Officials from various departments, NVBDCP staff and NGOs, who are also members of the District Task Force, attended the programme.
Dr. K Limatula, District Programme Officer, NVBDCP, who gave an overview of malaria elimination programme, stated that the goal is to eliminate malaria throughout the entire country by 2030 and to maintain malaria- free status in areas where malaria transmission has been interrupted and prevent re-introduction of malaria.
Launching the malaria elimination programme, Zarenthung Ezung, Deputy Commissioner and chairman of District Task Force for malaria elimination, Peren, encouraged all the members present to cooperate and coordinate to make the programme a success.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sehlet Manlun, Consultant NVBDCP, Peren.
