Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): The 11th edition of Peren district legislators’ football trophy kicked off on Wednesday at the Peren local ground with Secretary, Rural Development and Secretary to the Chief Minister Nagaland, Kelei Zeliang, IAS as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the Peren District Referee Association (PDRA) for moulding the talented youths of the district since the 1990’s by way of hosting successive Peren District Legislators’ Football Trophy till today. Meanwhile, he also encouraged the players to promote and maintain sportsmanship spirit and discipline.
Sports is one area where everyone can enjoy and participate in different capacities and also promotes ones health, he added. He cited how today sports have gained momentum in promoting relationship and earning.
He advised the crowd present to transform mindset of negativism to positivism and from begging culture to working culture which is a menace in our society. We should not pass on this culture to our next generation rather we should retrospect ourselves and end this culture, he added. He also voiced concerned against corruption where everyone is involved, and further said that, no particular group is responsible as we always professed.
22 teams from all over the district are vying for the coveted trophy which will culminate on Nov. 24.
