The DCC (I) Peren has demanded Chief Minister TR Zeliang to immediately step down, saying he no longer holds moral authority to continue in his chair, after filing a complaint in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kohima against false information furnished by Zeliang in his affidavit during his nomination for the 2013 general elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
In the proceedings of the court on Monday, the representative of the Kohima College, Kohima and the representative of the North Eastern Hill University submitted documents to the court wherein it stated that T R Zeliang had appeared BA exams in 1979 and had failed. He did not appear for BA examinations in 1980, the DCC(I) Peren said in a press note.
“Therefore it is now a foregone conclusion that T.R. Zeliang had not passed BA but had so far fooled the people of Nagaland and the country with a false declaration and lying to the people with false educational qualification declaration,” the DCC (I) Peren said adding, “We agree that educational qualification is not a criteria to occupy a public chair but lying to the people and fooling the people is a crime, especially when the declaration is made in affidavit.”
DCC (I) Peren president, Heluibe Iheilung in a press statement said, the people of Nagaland should ask why the NPF party under presidentship of Dr Shurhozelie is still standing behind Zeliang.
“Why is the State Cabinet still supporting a leader who had lied to the people? Are the civil societies, student organisations, and people’s representatives ready to stand up for truth? Will the fourth estate serve democracy by uncovering the truth?” he queried.
The statement of another complaint was recorded by K N Balgopal, senior Advocate, Mohinder Saini, Nitya Nambiar, Jitender Saini and Wapang lawyers on November 9 last. The statement was related to the threats and intimidations that have been received by K.N. Balgopal.
“On November 24, he received repeated threatening calls from a mobile number 09856526513 and also SMS threat as mentioned hereunder “You have enjoyed the crème of Nagaland and now what prompted you to sow the seed of bloodshed between two of our boss? Is it not ungrateful on your part? Don’t ruin your daughter’s future.”
The DCC(I) lauded the Advocate K N Balgopal who argued the case and condemned the threats and intimidations given to him by forces of dishonesty.
The DCC (I) Peren exuded confidence that the Court will do justice and deliver early decision so that truth prevailed over forces of dishonesty and anti-democratic elements.
