Penalty shoot-out tourney held

Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): A penalty shootout tournament organised by Kuhuboto Town Students’Union in aid of its silver jubilee was held today at the DDSC stadium on Saturday.
Khekaho Assumi, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports and Music Task Force, Nagaland graced the event as the chief guest and declared the tournament open.
Addressing a gathering of players, students and well wishers Khekaho stated that overall growth and development of a society require contribution of every aspect of life and sports being an integral part of life plays an important role in the transformation of the society. He encouraged the sports persons of the state to be dedicated and hardworking in pursuit of their dream in the field of games and sports, assuring that the government would support them.
Pointing out that development of sports and its infrastructure have not been evenly distributed across the state, he said that sports facilities should be evenly distributed and reached to all parts of the state so that the state may produce more sports persons who could excel even at the international level and bring name and fame to the state of Nagaland.
Kupu 5 won the competition and walked away with cash prize and certificates. Flying Ducks, finished in the second spot and Inaka Sumi of Flying Ducks was declared the best goalkeeper.
