Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): A seminar on peace-building and organic farming was organised by Peace Channel in collaboration with Catholic Women Association of Holy Cross Parish at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School campus with Barbara Radley, educator from UK, along with Dr. CP Anto, Director of Peace Channel; and Kishore Dass, PRO, DAN, as the resource persons.
Speaking on recent new ideology of conflict transformation, Radley said, “Basically, conflict transformation looks at the general changes of the social conflict traits and the patterns that this conflict follows.” She has impressed on four aspects of conflict transformation which included individual transformation, relationship transformation, power struggle and cultural issues. She said, “Conflict can escalate when there is gap in communication and when we have stereo-typical ideas about situations.” Saying this, she explained that women have to be clever enough to see the conflict happening in the family and see where they are coming from, and try to see things from others point of view rather than our own point of view.
She concluded by saying, “The only way that you can effect change in your society is by realising the different dynamics within the group. We need to stop being less selfish about other people in our relationship.”
Kishore, speaking on the importance of inner peace and meditation, said “Inner peace is the peace that comes from within and which sustains.” Citing example of how one can be easily influenced by others, he said inner peace can be very challenging, which no one can take it away from a person when one knows how to maintain it.
Dr. Anto stated that conflict is a good thing as long as it doesn’t lead to violence. Stating that no woman and man are bad, he insisted on love and understanding in order to rid violence in the society.
He has also stressed on the importance of avoiding contaminated food flooding in the market which is affecting one’s health and peace in the family through various diseases. He has asserted maintaining organic peace garden at home.
Marina S Hetoli Sema moderated the programme and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Jolly. The programme was attended by over 80 women participants.
