Patton to look into his shortcomings

Dimapur, Jan. 3 (EMN): Admitting shortcomings during his stint as the state home minister, Y Patton, has assured to prioritise on mending them and deliver to the satisfaction of the electorates in the event he was given another opportunity to serve the people.

Y Patton also called upon his supporters to maintain unity and desist from spreading false propaganda for individual gain but remain steadfast in their commitment for the general welfare of the people.

Patton said this while addressing a consultative meeting of voters, supporters and well-wishers residing in Dimapur at Lotha Hoho Ki here on January 3.

He also reiterated that unlike government servants, the MLAs have to face interview every after five years. “Our exam is very different, we don’t have to write, but we need the support of the people”, he added.

Following the consultative meeting, electorates of 37 Tiyi Assembly Constituency have appreciated the leadership of Y Patton for bringing about tremendous progress and development especially in the field of human resources development for the people of the constituency.

Considering the magnitude of progress and developmental works initiated by Y Patton, the house reaffirmed its unflinching support to his candidature if the 19th Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections is to be held.

The house also expressed gratitude to the former chief minister and incumbent Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio; NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu; and the current chief minister TR Zeliang for inducting Y Patton in the council of ministers and giving the portfolio of Irrigation and Flood Control as well as Geology & Mining and Border Affairs in the 17th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and as minister for Forest and Ecology and Home Minister in the 18th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The house further thanked their leadership for facilitating its representative to work for the welfare of the people of 37 Tiyi Assembly Constituency in particular and the people of Nagaland in general.
