Orientation for Poorna Shakti Kendra volunteers begin

Dimapur, October 27: A two-day orientation programme for village coordinators and volunteers of Poorna Shakti Kendra (PSK)/ Village Convergence and Facilitation Service (VCFS), organised by PSK/VCFS began on October 27 at SIRD conference hall, Kohima.
Mission Director of SRCW, Daisy Mezhur, while delivering the introduction of the two day orientation programme, urged the participants to work hand in hand with the Anganwadi & ASHA workers besides maintaining good relationships with the village council chairmen, VDB secretaries and other frontal organisations in the village. She also asked the participants to sensitise the villagers about the schemes and programmes being implemented or in the offing to implement for the welfare of the women.
Stressing on the importance of women’s role in a society, she suggested that meeting should be held once in every month to discuss the schemes and programmes meant for women and also to sort out the problems and grievances faced by the women in the society. Mezhür also urged the participants coming from various districts to form SHGs in their respective districts for their own survival.Research officer SRCW, Meneno R Vamuzo, gave the introduction to NSSWB/ SRCW. She said NSSWB was formed in 1958 with its main vision to empower women and children and to recommend suggestions, problems and grievances faced by the women to the government for effective implementation.
She also said schemes and programmes implemented by different departments should be made known and imparted to the public particularly the women.
Block Program Coordinator, Rokosalie, while giving the introduction to PSK/VCFS, urged the participants to work in close association with the village functionaries. He also suggested that the schemes and programmes meant for women should be made known to the villagers particularly those who are illiterate and have no access to such information.
Supervisor of WHL-181, Vekhwusalu Dawhuo presented the findings of PRA+ roles and responsibilities conducted in three districts namely Kohima, Longleng and Phek.
District Coordinator, Ajabu Tungoe, was the moderator of the programme.
