Organisations condemn Sep 11 incident

Dimapur, Sep 13 (EMN): Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) and the Old and New Pangsha village councils have jointly condemned the attack on 15 Assam Rifles by suspected NSCN (K) faction on September 11 at International Trade Centre (ITC) Dan in Pangsha under Noklak sub-division, Tuensang district, in which three security forces were injured.
KTC, while condemning the incident, stated that such merciless action had created fear psychosis among the residents. A joint press release issued by KTC president, L Ngon, and the executive chairman, T Pamoi, stated that Khiamniungan are peace loving citizen adding there is no space for bloodshed and war within its jurisdiction.
Alleging random shelling on innocent public residences resulting in damage to properties, KTC stated that children who were present at the time of incidence survived miraculously.
KTC has appealed to both the Indian army and the Naga nationalists to refrain from creating such untoward incidents in the public area as it disturbs not only the minds of the people but also impede regular activities of the villagers.
It further appealed to maintain peace in the entire Naga areas upholding the ENPO Peace Zone resolution dated December 18, 2007, and to respect the sentiments of the public and avoid hostilities in the near future.
In a related statement, the Old and New Pangsha village councils stated that, in the retaliatory firing, a bomb exploded inside a civilian residence where three children were cooking.
Old Pangsha chairman, L Thango, and the New Pangsha chairman, P Shingnya, also stated stray bullets hit the Straightway School hostel which created tension and fear psychosis to the school children and residents of the locality.
While condemning the incident, the Pangsha public have appealed all the factions and security forces to refrain from such act so as to maintain peace and tranquillity in the region.
