Open volleyball c’ship underway in Wokha

Wokha, June 21 (EMN): The 1st Open Volleyball Championship organised by Etsutchukha Youth League (EYL) got underway today at Wokha local ground with Dr. Chumben Murry, former minister of Nagaland as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Dr. Chumben Murry expressed his gratitude to the organisers, stating that games and sports are widely being played in the district but finds neglected in volleyball, where he acknowledged all sports and games are equally important for our physical and mental fitness.
Through this sports it will encourage and promote the young local talents where sports helps to unite from our barriers and it is a platform to display our skills, characters and strengthen to build a bond among the players, khel, colony and the society he added.

Meanwhile he wished the people to support and give cooperation to the peace process talks even though we might not be aware of all the agendas, where at present Nagas are in a critical period where the people should stand in unity. Talking on the coming election, the former minister also highlighted on churches of Nagaland taking a challenge in imparting and to educate in having a clean election which is widely known to the citizens, where he wish the society to take up and go with unity and to have the concept of clean election where hopefully he see mostly the village and the councils in the district are willing to support on it with equally participation without bias and expecting more to turn up he added.
The event was widely acknowledged with active participation from Lotha Hoho with its chairman Mhao Humtsoe delivering a short speech, wishing all the participants to have the sense of character as people tend to lose character with involvement of intoxicants. He further reminded the gathering to try to be good citizens in the society and master all trades where one has to carry a good character to bring an all round development.
Lotha Students’ Union President Lipemo M Tsopoe in his message encouraged the organisers to continue the tournament to support and promote the young talents, where as he expressed sadly that the advancement of technology has never brought them together to express and share laughter and joy like those gone days where at present we need this type of activities which will bring us together closely and united. He further wished the players to support and have sportsman spirit and when vying through sports one should have the potential to accept losing too since a game has only one team/individual winner even though we all strive for winning.
The compere of the inaugural event was Ajanbeni S. Jami with invocation by Rev. Yilow Assoc. Pastor WTBC and a welcome note by Chanbemo Humtsoe President EYL.
A special number was presented by Lobeno Tungoe, Winner, Voice of Wokha 2017. The tournament was declared open by chief guest Dr. Chumben Murry, former minister, Government of Nagaland.
Altogether, twelve men’s team with three women’s team are vying for the tournament.
