Kohima, April 26 (EMN): The 3rd Open Penalty Shoot-out tournament will be held at D Khel ground, Kohima on May 13, this was announced in a press conference at Kohima on Wednesday evening.
The tournament is organised by Prodigies group, Khedi Baptist Church under the theme ‘Innovating a stronger fellowship.’
Avilie Mephϋ-o speaking at the press conference said the tournament aims to invite the youth department in the various churches to have an innovative fellowship through sports, to provide a platform for the youth to have a positive and uplifting experience, to promote professional football clubs and players and share the stage with them and to create a new and strong partnership with local business communities to sponsor opportunities for people to participate in well- established sporting events.
The champion will fetch a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, 2nd prize Rs. 20,000, 3rd prize Rs. 10,000 and the 4th prize with Rs. 5000 while the best goal keeper will receive a gift coupon worth Rs.5000.
The registration forms have now been made available at the various outlets at Rs. 100 (Forms) and entry fee of Rs. 2000. The forms are available at: Town Area- Sports World, Main Town; High School Area- Active Station and BOC area- Kiran Sports & Stationary.
The last date for submission of form has been fixed on May 11 and match fixture will be done on May 12 at D Khel ground at 3pm.
The tournament will be played on knock-out basis.
“We have made preparations to make it a social and family event for people to support the teams and also bless us through their presence,” organisers said.
It may be recalled that 32 teams participated in the 2nd edition held in 2016 at Kohima local ground. According to the organisers, Kohima Orphanage team was part of the tournament for two consecutive years with free registration, and even this year they are expecting the team to turn up.
Prodigies Group consists of 15 members from Khedi Baptist Church Kohima, with a zeal for serving the Lord through various undertakings and charitable works.
