‘Oorja’ capf U-19 Talent hunt football tournament 2017 concludes in Imphal
Dimapur, May 10 (EMN): The ongoing football extravaganza, OORJA Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017 in Manipur organised by IGAR(S) saw sixteen teams in Boys and Girls categories battling it out on the state of art grass turf of the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium from May 1.
The final matches and closing ceremony was graced by Thokchom Radheshyam, Minister for Education and Labour as the chief guest and Rajen Singh, Members Legislative Assembly and Brand Ambassador Laishram Sarita Devi, Renedy Singh and Bembem Devi from the sporting fraternity. In the boy’s category Imphal East Club beat Thoubal Club 6-3 to be crowned the champions and KRYPHSA beat ESU 3-0 in the girl’s category to lift the title.
The closing address was delivered by Maj Gen Virendra Singh, VSM, IG AR (S) in which he commended the Assam Rifles fraternity, All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) and Youth Affairs and Sports(YAS) in collaboration with DHFL for putting up a spectacular show to identify and harness the potential of the footballers of Manipur. He also thanked the administrative and security staff for ensuring smooth conduct of the events. He extended his heartiest gratitude to all dignitaries, athletes and sportspersons from various fields, especially the veteran footballers for supporting the cause of football in the state.
