Guwahati, May 16 (PTI): A senior ONGC official was arrested today by the CBI for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs two lakh in Assam’s Sivasagar district today.
The CBI had received a complaint wherein the complainant alleged that ONGC Assam Asset’s Deputy General Manager A K Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for passing his pending bills, a CBI press release said here.
An FIR was registered yesterday 2018 under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the basis of the written complaint received.
The accused was caught red handed while he was demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs two lakh from the complainant today.
The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the CBI Special Judge in Guwahati tomorrow.
Searches are being conducted at his residential and official address, the release added.
