Body at morgue for identification
Dimapur, Jan. 8: A pedestrian, yet to be identified, succumbed to severe head injury at District Hospital Dimapur after being hit by an auto on January 7, Saturday evening around 6 p.m. at Signal junction Dimapur, said Dimapur Traffic police Zone 1.
The victim, a male around 50 years of age, was said to be in an inebriated state according to traffic police personnel as accounted by witnesses while the auto driver, a non-Naga was not under alcohol influence when the accident occurred.
No identify proof or any belonging was found in possession of the victim and his body has been kept at Dimapur District Hospital morgue.
The auto has been seized and kept at Traffic Control Zone-1. A case against the auto driver under Section 279, 338 and 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and forwarded to judicial custody, said OC of Traffic Zone-1.
