Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): Basing on specific information regarding presence of an arms cadre in Kohima, troops of 41 Assam Rifles alongwith police representative launched an operation in D Khel village, Kohima, and arrested one person with arms and ammunitions on March 18.
The accused has been identified as N Kire, son of late T Kire and resident of D Khel in Kohima district. The arrested person disclosed that he holds the rank of kilonser in NSCN (IM).
The team recovered one Point 22 mm Rifle, one Point 22 mm (GSG5) Rifle, one AK-47, one magazine of Point 32 mm, 87 live rounds of assorted ammunition and 10 fired cartridges.
Assam Rifles statement stated that the arrested person has been handed over to North Police Station, Kohima, alongwith recovered arms and ammunitions for further investigation.
