The endless job-orientations and training programs of the government are nothing but a waste if the trained get no job or receive no opportunity for placement, a group representing the unemployed has said on Saturday, July 4.
The Educated Unemployed Union of Nagaland (EUUN) issued a press release on Saturday expressing ‘unconditional support’ to the Unemployed Trained Nurses’ Association’s (UTNA) demand for creation of posts.
“The union appraise the government for upgradations (sic) and increase in the number of health centres. Despite of all development when the government fail to utilize the credibility of trained one. The point of setting up for job orientation course is just a waste,” the union said. The organization said it had learnt that only about 17 posts were created during a span of 26 years in the state. “There are more than 1, 000 unemployed trained nurse out of which 870 trained by the government. Since the government are aware of the situation the equal opportunity should be given to every individual,” the EUUN stated.
The organization said that the needs of the public from the healthcare sector of the state are increasing day by day and “in the same way the demand for the service of the trained nurse increase in according with the growth of population and commercial towns”.
“Therefore unless the unemployed trained nurse are utilize in the health sector to extend their service to the needy people the quality of service will not improve as a result the deserving beneficiaries felt to get quality service. EUUN felt that why should the people of Nagaland be deprived of such service which is available in other state,” the press release said in explanation.
Giving their explanation, the union said that the protests and struggle of the UTNA for open employment and job opportunities for the unemployed and trained nurses were not only in their interest but also in the interest of the people. The people “yearn for more systematic service in all the hospital and health centres”, the union said.
‘It is the obligation of the state government to take into account while attempting to modernize health sector in our state’ the educated unemployed persons’ organization added.
