Representatives of the agitating Nagaland Staff Nurse Association (NSNA) on Thursday met the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and apprised him of the events unfolding to the present wherein they are in the second-phase of their agitation.
NSNA president Catherine told Eastern Mirror that after they submitted necessary documents and explained their demands, the Chief Minister assured them that he will take up the issue with the department in concern on Friday. She said the Chief Minister asked them to call off their agitation, but the representatives alone could not do that as the NSNA units spread across all the districts will have to be taken into consultation at this juncture, she added.
“Now we have decided to continue with the agitation until and unless we get a concrete response that our demands will be addressed,” the NSNA official said.
She also said the representatives met with the Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare earlier today, however, it did not result in any significant outcome.
The NSNA members are currently in the second-phase of their agitation by going on a mass casual leave which will end on July 4. They launched their phase-wise agitation on June 26 to protest against non fulfilment of their two-point demand by the state government.
