Kohima, Sep. 12 (EMN): The 19th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised by the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) will begin from September 22 till October 20th at the Kohima local ground (Khuochiezie).
Addressing a press conference at Angami Students’ Union office, Voto Neikha, convenor of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy said the prize money of the tournament has been enhanced this year where the champions will walk home with a cash prize of INR 2 lakhs, while the runners-up will receive INR 1.20 lakhs. The semi-finalists and quarter-finalists will receive INR 30,000 and INR 15,000 each.
The individual prizes include player of the tournament, best midfielder, best defender, best keeper and highest goal scorer. The player of the tournament will receive a two-wheeler along with citations while the other individual awards will receive INR 10,000 each along with citations.
It was informed that teams from Manipur are expected to participate in the tournament. The organisers also have pitched in national referees from Manipur to conduct the matches.
The organisers during the press conference also has made appeal to the state government to improve the Kohima ground condition stating that there are numerous talented players in Nagaland, and in order to promote them to play in the higher level, they need a quality ground.
The gallery ticket is priced at INR 30 till the knockout stage and INR 50 from quarter-final matches. Students will get a free pass with their uniform after 2pm it was informed. While encouraging the colleges to participate in the tournament, the supporters of the playing college team will get a free pass with their uniform during their respective matches.
The organisers have informed that the entry forms for the tournament are made available at the following outlets Sports Paradise Mulüo Market Kezieke #09402211604 in Kohima and Master Graphix Super Market near Hotel Saramati #09774532237 in Dimapur. The last date for submission of entry form has been fixed on September 15.
