Dimapur, Feb. 4 (EMN): A self-styled “assistant political officer” of the NSCN (U) identified as one Jangnee Lukham has been apprehended on Sat. Feb. 3 in Arunachal Pradesh by security forces, updates on Sun. have informed.
The PRO (defence) issued a press release informing that the underground activist was apprehended by what was stated to be “Longding battalion.” He was caught following reports about an underground cadre trying to terrorise and extort money in Longkhao village.
‘The battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended Jangnee Lukham with a pistol, ammunition (both AK47 and pistol), extortion notes and other incriminating evidence. Longding battalion under the aegis of DAO division has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and this apprehension will go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area,’ the press release asserted.
The press release stated that the cadre has ‘admitted to being active part of the banned outfit since 2011 and to have been part of NSCN (K) from 2010 to 2011.’
“The cadre has also undergone training at NSCN training camp during this time. The cadre has been actively involved in extortion and high value abduction cases in Longding and has been apprehended twice before in 2011 and 2012 by the security forces maintained the press note,” it added.
