IMPHAL, OCTOBER 21: A team of Imphal West district police commandoes arrested one cadre of the NSCN (K) identified as Oinam Saratchandra Singh alias John alias Thoiba (44) son of Rupachandra of Chingamakha Kakwa Maning Maibam Leikai during frisking in front of Indira Park in Imphal on Tuesday.
According to the Public Relations of the Manipur police department “Investigation revealed that he is presently the elected member of Maibam Leikai Gram Panchayat ward number 7 and had extorted huge amount of money from various government departments, businessmen, travel and transport agencies and educational institutions.” The PRO issued a press release here on Friday.
“He further revealed that he had conducted recruitment drives at various place and public mobilization for NSCN (K).”
Incriminating articles were also seized from his possession, the police added. A complaint has been registered at City police station and investigation is on.
