NPRAAF alleges funds to dubious beneficiaries

DoPC ListDimapur, Nov. 09 (EMN): The Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum has on Thursday stated that the budget and monitoring cell of the finance department that released INR 8.98 cr. to the department of planning and coordination as financial assistance to 41 ‘unnamed’ beneficiaries.
In a press release, the forum alleged that the ‘huge’ amount of money released with many of the projects in the list having vague descriptions without proper address only give rise to doubts.
“Rs 18 lakh was released to an unnamed NGO for purchase of a mini bus Rs 70 lakh was released for tree plantation in Nagaland, Rs 41 lakh was released for setting up of flower nursery in 5 places without mentioning the locations, Rs 80 lakh was released for setting up of eight numbers of Dairy Development without naming locations, Rs 20 lakh was released for seminar on global climate change without mentioning to which NGO/individual it was released, Rs 10 lakh each was released for construction of hostel at Dimapur, Peren, Kohima and Mokokchung, Rs 20 lakh was released for construction of office in Dimapur without mentioning what office, location etc.,” stated the pres release.
It added that with such vague descriptions it has only given the forum strong reasons to doubt the ‘genuineness’ of many of the projects.
It therefore demanded the department to clarify by providing proper details of the projects, address and the list of beneficiaries.
