NPP Nagaland unit shares concern over recent monsoon catastrophe

Dimapur, Aug. 9 (EMN): The Nagaland state unit of National People’s Party today expressed great concern ‘over the recent spate of landslides that wreaked havoc in various parts of Nagaland which damaged more than 60 crucial roads in the State leading to great inconvenience to the general public as for more than a week many parts of Nagaland were literally cut off from the State Capital and Dimapur’.
the NPP Nagaland State IPR Secretary, Ricky Ozukum, in a press statement, said that the party during its state executive meeting held at Hotel Saramati on Aug. 8. discussed and shared concern over the recent catastrophe brought about by the monsoon rains.
In this regard, NPP extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy towards the victims and those who have lost lives in the calamity.

The party also appreciated the state government headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for timely intervention in mitigating the chaos caused due to the landslides and for giving relentless support in immediately initiating the relief operation and massive restoration works of the affected highways and district roads.

The party also expressed deep gratitude to the various state departments, district administrative units, disaster management authority, Assam Rifles and local volunteers for their immeasurable support during the aftermath of the natural tragedy and for making all attempts to reach out to the general public and rendering their valuable service during critical times.

The party also extended their utmost appreciation to the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and the central leaders for their swift and prompt attention towards the state at this critical juncture.

Besides, the NPP Nagaland unit also appreciated and welcomed the 7 MLAs from the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) who recently joined the National People’s Party (NPP).

“… the joining of the 7 MLAs is testimony of his leadership and the faith that the people of North East have bestowed upon the NPP,” stated the release.
Also while congratulating the National Party President of NPP and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma for his continuous undertaking and his ‘able leadership’, the release stated that it has given deep confidence to the people of North East to march forward on shared objectives and common goals of development of the region.
