Wokha, May 17 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) party continued their campaign for the Lok Sabha by-election at the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Wokha town on Thursday.
The party’s candidate, C Apok Jamir said that the NPF is ‘the real regional party which carries the affection and voice of the Naga people’. He also stated that ‘every right-thinking Naga’ should stand and represent themselves, and ‘not someone else’s ideology or principle’. Till 2013, Jamir had contested on the ticket of Indian National Congress party.
Jamir assured to ‘deliver his best and work for the people’ if elected to the Lok Sabha.
The NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu asked party workers and supporters to resist ‘the invasion of our culture by outsiders’. He alleged that in states ruled by the BJP, minority communities were persecuted. He urged the people to spread the word and ‘be prepared to cast their votes for their rights and for the true regional party’.
Member of Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye said that the largest democracy in the world has been failed by its largest party ‘by encroaching on secularism in the country through its functioning’.
The leader of NPF legislature party, TR Zeliang alleged that under the present BJP government ‘law has stopped prevailing in the country where the written document of the Indian Constitution does not come into picture’.
He also said that the present BJP government has disintegrated and fragmented the law where ‘every state has started to function by its own constitution’. Zeliang stated that the agenda of the PDA was to ‘misguide the people with false promises’.
