NPF Kohima Division sports meet held

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 25

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Kohima Division held its annual sports meet-cum- picnic today at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
The programme was graced by Kiyanilie Peseyie, Minister of Social Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs as the chief guest.
In men’s penalty shoot-out tournament, the 14th Southern Angami Assembly Constituency emerged as the champions, while the 9th Kohima Town A/C bagged the second position.
In women’s penalty shoot-out, the 9th Kohima Town A/C lifted the title, while the Kohima Division women office bearers were the runners-up.
On the day, an exhibition football match was also played between the Kohima Division against the combined team of all assembly constituencies, wherein the former emerged victorious by 3-1.Earlier, the chief guest Kiyanilie called upon the party workers to stand firm and committed towards the party.
With the present government standing as an opposition-less government, Peseyie praised the party leadership stating that “Nagaland has set a record with all the legislators working together with opposition.”
On peace accord, Peseyie said, “the present government welcomes the peace accord signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM), which I expect that a positive change will arrive for the people.” Kiyanilie also gave away the prizes to the winners.
The closing function was chaired by Gonei-u Sirie, president, NPF, Kohima Division, while the invocation was pronounced by Medochünuo, vice president women wing.
The welcome address was delivered by Aselie Punyü, general secretary, Western Angami A/C, special number by Junuo and friends, while the vote of thanks was tendered by Kesoneilie Theünuo, working president, NPF Kohima Division.
