Dimapur, August 2 (EMN): NPF Kohima division has reaffirmed support and cooperation to its party president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and to stand by the principles and ideology of the party, while it also called upon all the legislators under Kohima division to respond to the ‘Calling Notice’ of the party to withdraw their support to TR Zeliang before the expiry date fixed on August 5 and come back to the party fold so as to avoid facing disqualification.
The division, in a press release issued by its Media Cell, expressed dismay regarding the ultimatum served by TR Zeliang and his group on Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, the legitimate NPF president, to step down as president within 15 days. The division reminded how could 36 legislators serves ultimatum on the president to step down even when all the 60 legislatures put together cannot even impeached or removed a party worker, adding it is a mockery in any political party organisation.
The division also noted with anguish on the accusation hurled at Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu as ‘autocratic’ and trying to create division among the party organisations. The division wondered why the legislators had questioned the authority of the president for expelling and suspending the errant legislators who went against the party principle and constitution, when he is, constitutionally, vested with the power to do so, to safeguard the interest of the party. It also asked the legislators to reply at the earliest as to wherein the NPF constitutional provision has a legislature’s wing authorised to elect an interim president.
The division was amused at the unconstitutional appointment of ‘self style’ interim president by TR Zeliang’s group and wondered under what provision and articles of the constitution could an expelled and suspended members elect an interim president when it is a known fact that election of the president is done by convening a general convention of the party.
Further, it seriously took note of the wild allegation against Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu as a “fraud” and sought a clarification from TR Zeliang’s group how Dr. Shürhozelie manipulated the constitution of the NPF party when he is steadfastly upholding the constitution. The division urged TR Zeliang’s group not to further fragment the party nor create confusion in the minds of the general public by issuing unethical statement.
