Dimapur, Feb. 23 : The Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) is convinced that under the leadership of veteran politician Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu “a new era of progress, development and better understanding amongst all sections of the Naga society will dawn the months to come.”
The NPF’s media cell issued press release on Thursday. “We appreciate the wise and politically-farsighted decision of the legislators and we are convinced that under the leadership of the veteran politician who enjoys the respect and esteem of people of all walks of life, a new era of progress, development and better understanding amongst all sections of the Naga society will dawn the months to come,” the note stated.
“We are greatly encouraged by the mantra issued to the Government officers today at the first meeting of the cabinet with the heads of departments by the chief minister to be punctual in attending offices, to maintain decorum and dignity of office and to set their offices in order to ensure the best of services to the public,” the party said. The organisation is confident that the “government servants will follow the directives of the chief minister and also emulate from the example he had shown today when he led his cabinet team and reached the office at 9.30 am sharp.”
The NPF also expressed appreciation at the “gesture” of the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues paying their respects at the burial site of the two youths of the January 31 violence in Dimapur.
Further, the press release expressed gratitude to the former chief minister, TR Zeliang, who according to the NPF, “made the ultimate sacrifice of vacating his chair for the sake of peace and harmony in the society.”
“We are aware that he has been made a sacrificial lamb for no fault of his, and appreciate his gesture of stepping down all the more since it has only gone to prove that he loves his people and party more than the comfort of office,” the NPF claimed.
The organisation has appealed to all the sections of the society to “cooperate with the chief minister and his colleagues” so as to “bring all round development, peace and harmony in the society.”
