Mokokchung, Oct. 10 (EMN):  The newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Pradyut Bordoloi said that the Congress party has only one singular object to rejuvenate and strengthen the party and to recapture the glory of the AICC in Nagaland.

NPCC president K. Therie, who also present at the press conference held t Hotel Metsuben on Wednesday evening also supplemented that the party has one object to revive the Congress to fight the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

Bordoloi, a former minister of Assam, admitted that the Congress party, after its debacle in the last State general election, has taken note of the weakening of the Congress organization for various reasons. He said that the party is, however, determined to rejuvenate and rebuild from the grass-root level. He added that we are tasked to build from the bottom.

AICC secretary disclosed that the party has carried out an informal study after the formation of NDPP led by Chief Minister, Neiphui Rio and BJP alliance PDA Government. He alleged that that the party as found out that the people at the grass-root level are very unhappy with the current Government. “…this Govt. led by Neiphui Rio has not been able to deliver anything,” he claimed.

Bordoloi asserted that Neiphui Rio has personally pleaded the Central govt. to provide special assistance for reconstruction of infrastructure after Nagaland was severely affected by landslide and flood, even send an estimate request for above INR 800 crore to GoI.

“Rio also met union home minister and personally made several trips to Delhi for an audience with PM but not a single paisa was given, even the normal flood relief assistance has not come to Nagaland as far as we know,” he alleged.

The Congress secretary further accused that after BJP stormed to power in 2014, they have removed the special category status enjoyed by the North-eastern States and the 90/10 funding formula device by during then UPA led Congress Govt.

North-East Industrial Investment Policy designed to benefit the NE-States for development of trade, commerce, industries, investment and job creation was also revoked, he claimed.

Modi promised to continue to work for the development and benefit of the NE States and even describe NE region was ‘Goddess of fortune and will shine like 8 Gems’ but BJP has betrayed the entire NE Region, he claimed.

Bordoloi also said, “BJP RSS is running this Neiphui Rio Govt. through back door/proxy…….. BJP RSS agenda is to impose the Hindutva  and finish the manifestation  of the aspiration of the people.”

He also maintained that the Congress party respects the aspiration of the people of Nagaland and stand committed to Article 371 (A) given by India National Congress. “We believed all solution can be arrived within the ambit of the India constitution,” he said.

K Therie, said that there is a serious danger in the change of Naga society demographic. He added, “15 years of regional rule- the social structure is now changed to money and power rather than issues and goals,”

He also claimed no other regional parties have brought safety measures to safeguard the people of Nagaland but Congress party has at least earned the Article 371 (A) and 10 pints modalities to safeguard Nagaland.

He also alleged  the aggressiveness of BJP whose concept is Hindutva. They think Naga might be dominated by the Christian society but can be purchased and matter of decadent Naga’s can be converted.

He also slammed that they can go to the extent of sharing seats in the Nagaland Assembly but they don’t want to reserve 33 percent for women.

“ We must send National Political party MP to the parliament because they can participate  in parliamentary committee  where they can deliver the aspiration of the people both at politic as well as the economy and build  conceptual programmes for development and  political needs  wheres the regional political parties  does not have that opportunity  to get support in the parliament,”  Therie said.
