Dimapur, July 29 (EMN):
More than 70,000 government jobs are required in Nagaland because there are more than 70,000 youths registered as ‘unemployed’ at the Directorate of Employment (2017) and there are additional unaccounted numbers of unregistered unemployed youths.

The prospect for youths in the govt. sector looks bleak because the govt. sectors in the state is saturated and unemployment is a major challenge as termed by state legislators and leaders as well.

It was during the inauguration of Emporium Training & Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. in Dimapur recently, the advisor to the state chief minister for Skill Development Kazheto Kinimi asserted “with less scope for employment opportunity in the state and with no big factories, companies or industries to give employment to the many number of youths, the Peoples’ Democratic Alliance (PDA) govt was committed to impart and empower the youths with the skills training and help in self employment and other employment opportunities”.

The Emporium Training & Consultancy Pvt Ltd mandated to skill a quarter of 220 with the targeted 880 candidates in a year is a leading registered Vocational Training Provider (VTP) under Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, said its operations manager, Anirbhan Mukherjee to Eastern Mirror.

The emporium conducts skill development and capacity building programs for the unemployed youth and provides world class employment opportunities in the field of Hospitality, Aviation, Tourism, Retail and other customer service sectors in India and overseas, Mukherjee expounded.

“We are a training institution having a mission to train unemployed youth of India in the field of aviation and hospitality and place them with the world’s most eminent brands. We have trained and placed more than 5000 Naga candidates from various districts of Nagaland under Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS) successfully and are currently training candidates under other national scheme called Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY)” Anirbhan informed.

Youths come with dreams in their eyes, with hopes and expectations at the emporium but stimulating skill was critical to ensure that all candidates are placed with jobs because it was skill that will get them jobs, Anirbhan said. It is also the responsibility of the institution that we provide 100% placement, maintained the operations manager.

On the economy front, Anirbhan opined that a state or country can go ahead with private sectors and which he said was the major contributor for a country’s economy. This can happen in Nagaland with visionary leaders who are committed in bringing private sectors which can pave way for the educated unemployed or the unemployed youths who need not go out of the state looking for job.

Not of perks and glamour

It was not only because of the perks and glamour of aviation or hospitality sectors that Naga youths are turning to such industries but the idea of being employed to support families and oneself are encouraging them to follow the sector. And it was not only the women but men as well who are turning to such industries for employment.

Students at the emporium who were waiting for video interview -most of them from Dimapur shared that even though some have faced resistance from family they are satisfied now taking into consideration the number of educated unemployed youths in the state.

Chusenle Kemp, a post graduate from Dimapur said it was frustrating to remain unemployed after her post graduation and it was then she decided to join the emporium with a hope to getting employed.

Another student Lanusenla Jamir from Mokokchung sacrificed coming out of her comfort zone and getting enrolled at the institute so that she can secure herself for future and her family back home. She observed that Nagas mentality was stuck with the age old tradition of educational system without skills.

Holito Yeptho and Nitu Devi share the same sentiment with Jamir as they say “Nagas’ need to come out of our comfort zone and preoccupying over govt.jobs and wasting time”.

Montoli Sema from Mon and Enibeni Ngullie from Dimapur packed their bags with a hope to get a job and it is working for them at the emporium as they are getting skilled-free of costs-instead of remaining idle like the many youths who are waiting for govt. jobs  which Naga considers as the only ‘noble job’.

At Emporium the training modules are aligned with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and are registered under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, North East Rural Livelihood Project, Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Council, Aviation and Aerospace Sector Skill Council and National Skill Development Corporation.

With the help and support of the Dimapur Airport director, M Zhimo, the trainees receives the privilege to undergo airport familiarization training, highlighted Anirbhan. He said that within the first month of training the institute have placed more than 71 candidates through direct walk in interviews conducted by The Oberoi Mumbai, Jet Airways and Spicejet for cabin crew.

At the inauguration of Emporium on June 5 this year, legislator Kinimi committed and uphold the vision of the PDA govt towards the uplift and overall progress of Naga society especially the youths and as the advisor to chief minister for Skill Development, Labour And Employment assured to extend all possible help in implementing and executing govt. plans and policies for empowering the youths.
