Northeast-centric research hub inaugurated

Mokokchung, Jan. 18 (EMN): A research centre that focuses on collection of books, artefacts and research documents on Northeast India was officially inaugurated by Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM) Executive Secretary Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger at Clark Theological College on Jan. 16.
Principal of Clark Theological College Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener said in his brief introductory note that it was already two years since the college has been seriously envisioning to launch a research centre to help those doing research on Northeast India. To mark the historic landmark, he said he had dreamt of launching a book that addresses the issues and problems faced by the indigenous communities of the region and methodological approaches to address and encountering it.
Pongener thanked God and all those who helped him in making his dream a reality.
A book titled Ethnic Politics in North East India: An Academic Approach was released by the Global President of the World Association for Christian Communication, Toronto, Canada, Dr. Samuel W Meshack on Wednesday. The book was edited by Mar Pongener, A Temjen Jamir and L Imsutoshi Jamir, and a forward by Sanjoy Hazarika, International Director, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative and the author of Strangers No More and Strangers of the Mist.
The book is a collection of research papers written by 25 scholars from Northeast. It has four parts: First part is on history, identity and politics, second part on religion, culture and worldview, third on justice, reconciliation and peace, and the fourth on customary law, practices and women.
