NNC/FGN affirms on sovereignty of Naga nation

Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): The Naga National Council, Federal Government of Nagaland (NNC/FGN) has resolved to steadfastly maintain the dignity, integrity and sovereignty of the Naga nation.

The resolutions to these effects were taken during the general meeting of the NNC/FGN national workers held on Aug. 11 at Urra Academy hall in Kohima. Various dignitaries including its president Adinno Phizo; ‘Kedahge Gen.’ (Retd.) Viyalie Metha; and ‘killo kilonser’ Shevohü Keyho spoke on the occasion.

A press release issued by Capt. (Retd.) Yirei Lungleng, ‘rali wali killonser,’ informed that the house had discussed on various issues including the international objective of the Naga nation to work out.

After thorough deliberation, the house resolved to reaffirm the following historical events such as the Naga memorandum to Lord John Simon, British statutory commission on January 10, 1929; formation of the Naga National Council (NNC) on February 2, 1946; Naga independence declaration on 14th August, 1947; voluntary plebiscite of May 16, 1951; Lakhuti resolution of 27th April, 1955; proclamation of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) on 22nd March, 1956; international ceasefire agreement between the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) and the Government of India (GOI) on 6th September, 1964.

Apart from these historical events, the Naga National Council and the Federal Government of Nagaland resolved not to recognise all devised events. Further stating that NNC and FGN have always maintained non-violence, it resolved to continue to do so even in the days to come.
