Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): Reacting to news report on the alleged withdrawal of support to his leadership, president of Naga National Council (NNC), Gen. (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho, has refused to step down from office but continue to uphold the national principle of “sovereignty.”

While mentioning that it is an unquestionable personal discretion to either support or withdraw support to his leadership as it is a matter of principle, Keyho affirmed that under any circumstance he would not compromise the national principle.

Keyho clarified that the unconstitutional action by the FGN Kedahge, Brig. (Retd) S Singnya, was only because of his refusal to join or support the NNPGs. He has termed Brig. (Retd) S Singnya as a dedicated and righteous man but unfortunately he could not read and write well.

“Because of this disadvantage, some people had been using him as a Rubber stamp but sadly he is blind to this reality. I am really sorry for him and at the same time sad because some educated youth of today have lost the universal love and respect to the elders,” Keyho lamented.

He also expressed sadness that Senka Ao belied his expectation and proved to be a defector and betrayer.

Stating that his tenure in office is not completed, Keyho declared that he would not step down but continue to uphold the national principal of sovereignty except in the event of breach of the constitution or committing any offence against the nation which require his removal from office.

NNC president accused of non-cooperation

Joint secretary of the Naga National Council (NNC), Bendang Sangtam, has put weight behind those favouring removal of its president, Gen. (Retd.) Thinoselie M Keyho, alleging the latter’s non-cooperation with the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN).

Bendang Sangtam acknowledged that Gen. (Retd.) Thinoselie M Keyho was duly elected on May 11, 2016, in Yoruba during NNC general session, which organised and managed by the FGN with the hope and understanding that the president would work in co-operation and close association with the FG N for the Naga cause. He, however, stated that after seeing his non-cooperation to the FGN, most of the NNC/FGN leaders, NNC central executive members and regional presidents, who have elected him, have withdrawn their support to his leadership.

He also added that NNC is the only political institution of the Nagas and not the property of vested individuals. He stated that there is no such person by the name of Nuveta Rhakho as president of the NNC Chakhesang regional council in the NNC records.

He further expressed surprise at some leaders opposing to the political talks when the entire Naga people are expecting an honourable and acceptable solution to the Indo-Naga political issue. He has asked the Naga public to judge for themselves whether some frustrated national workers, who seemingly have no interest in solving the Indo-Naga political issue, should be allowed to continue leading the Nagas.
