Dimapur, July 27: The Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-1 Contractors’ Union (NGRC-1 CU) has strongly demanded the state government to set up Lokayukta in order to curb corruption, saying corrupt practices by legislators, politicians and public servants have given birth to selfishness, protests and gap between ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’.
Addressing the mammoth gathering at St. Joseph’s College Jakhama Indoor Stadium recently, the main speaker of the event NVCO President & Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi said that the present legislators in Nagaland state assembly simply avoid Lokayukta which would check and even punish them. He said, delaying establishment of Lokayukta is simply encouraging corruption. A press statement issued by NGRC-1 CU President Seyiekuolie and general secretary L. Pukhato Shohe said, “ NGRC-1 CU fully endorsed the speech of Kezhokhoto Savi as very true, timely and relevant and the NVCO has been tirelessly fighting for ‘Truth’ and ‘Justice’ in our society. The Governor PB Acharya had also appealed for enactment of a Lokayukta Bill in the wake of increasing irregularities in Nagaland.”
The NGRC-1 CU demanded the government especially the constituted committee to work towards setting up of effective, powerful, impartial, independent and strong Lokayukta at the earliest.
