NFR to introduce new weekly train between Dibrugarh and Silchar

Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to introduce a regular weekly express train between Dibrugarh and Silchar from April 8.
A press release issued by the NFR Maligaon on April 5 mentioned that the proposed new train will further strengthen the rail connectivity between Barak and Brahmaputra valley.
The new service is said to be jointly flagged off by Chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Rajen Gohain, Minister of state of railways from Dibrugarh at 6 pm on April 8 in presence of other distinguished guests.
The regular service of the train is said to start from April 16 from Dibrugarh and from Silchar on April 17.
The release further mentioned that the frequency of the train will be increased to bi-weekly or more in due course of time after ascertaining the actual demand from passengers.
The train is said to have AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, sleeper class and general second class accommodation. Also, the train is said to have stoppages at Sibsagar Town, Simaluguri Jn, Mariani Jn, Furkating Jn, Dimapur, Lumding, New Haflong, Badarpur Jn during its journey both ways.
The inaugural programme at Dibrugarh will be relayed through video link to Silchar where people would be able to view the function live and be a part of the historic occasion.
