12-hr power shutdown in Mon, Longleng and parts of Mkg. from Sep. 16
Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): A 12-hour power shutdown will hit residents of Mon and Longleng districts; Changtongya and Tuli under Mokokchung district for five consecutive days starting September 16 next.
The establishment of Mokokchung transmission division, department of Power on Thursday issued a press statement informing that the power shutdown in said locations would last from 6 am till 6 pm, each day starting Sep. 16 till 20th.
The shutdown has been necessitated by ‘repair and maintenance works to be carried out at 66KV Mokokchung-Tuli transmission line,’ it informed. The department has requested consumers to bear with the ‘inconvenience.’

Assam Rifles toughen Indo-Myanmar border patrol
Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The Assam Rifles are said to have intensified border patrol in the northeast states along Indo-Myanmar border in the last three days, according to a press statement from the force’s publicity officer.
According to the statement issued on Thursday, the Assam Rifles troops were in high alert due to apprehension of ‘illegal immigrants’ trying to enter the state(s) by crossing the international border illegally.
“Patrolling all along Indo-Myanmar border has been intensified over the last three days. Till today, no illegal immigrant has been detected or intercepted. High priority is being given to the border town of Moreh/South Mizoram,” it stated.

Proposal to name school after Olympian Dr. T Ao
Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The state government has proposed to rename the government high school, Changki in Mokokchung district after Dr. T Ao – the first Naga Olympian. Changki village is the birthplace of the first captain of the Indian Olympic football team.
A DIPR report on Thursday stated the state’s School Education department as having issued a notification containing the proposal. According to the proposal, the renaming of the school was to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Ao.
The report informed that the department concerned has invited objections, if any, from members of the public within one month from the publication of said notice.
