New Assam Rifles’ DG visit Kohima

Dimapur, Jan. 10: The director general of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, YSM, SM, VSM on Tuesday visited Kohima, according to a press release from the Assam Rifles’ publicity office.

“On his maiden visit to the state as the director general of the elite force, General Chauhan paid homage to the martyrs at the Kohima War Cemetery. He visited headquarters IGAR (North) at Kohima and the Assam Rifles garrison at Chiswema where he reviewed the security situation.

“During his visit to the Kohima garrison, he complimented the troops of the force for their dedication and devotion to duty and felicitated six outstanding personnel with the director general Assam Rifles commendation card,” it stated.
According to the statement, he also called on governor PB Acharya and chief minister TR Zeliang separately.

“The dignitaries had a discussion on wide ranging issue during the interaction. His Excellency the governor and the chief minister of Nagaland complimented lieutenant general Shokin Chauhan, YSM, SM, VSM, on assuming the coveted appointment of director general Assam Rifles and conveyed their appreciation for the outstanding contribution of the Assam Rifles towards maintaining peace and tranquillity in Nagaland,” the statement claimed.
