NE Railway massive cleanliness drive concludes

Dimapur, August 31 (EMN): A massive cleanliness drive over all the five divisions of N F Railway i.e Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangia, Lumding and Tinsukia including Maligaon Head Qrs, involving more than 665 officers and staff started from 16 August as a part of countrywide “Swachhta Pakhwada” being organised in Indian Railways concluded today.
‘The theme of the Swachhta Pakhwada observed by the N. F Railway was to spread swachhta awareness and implementation in Railway premises including Railway colonies and trains with a focus on role of Railway Officers, staff and their family members in taking sanitation initiatives stated, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO).
The NGOs like Brahmakumaris of Guwahati chapter which lead the way for welfare works participated in the programme for cleanliness awareness by engaging their volunteers for distribution of leaflets to passengers at Kamakhya station. Chahatey Ram, General Manager, N F Railway personally carried out thorough inspection in the every section of every department beside every nook and corner of the head quarter campus on August 30.
General Manager along with other senior officials of head quarters and Lumding division conducted detailed inspection of Guwahati station on several aspects including catering service, clean drinking water and clean station premises on August 31. He had ordered instantaneously for remedial process to correct deficiencies which noticed and made appeal to rail users for their cooperation to upkeep and maintain complete cleanliness in station.
During the sixteen days long drive various activities and intensive cleaning was also carried out at canteen, kitchens etc. Painting and poster competitions on the theme of cleanliness was organised in schools and higher secondary schools in many places. The N. E Railway also organized seminars on sanitation and upkeep of railway stations by involving NGOs, charitable institutions, scouts & guides, unions and all employees.
