Kohima, March 17 (EMN): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) division of the 14 Southern Angami-I AC today organised a ‘Thanksgiving-cum-felicitation’ programme for its successful candidate in the recently conducted state assembly election, Vikho-o Yhoshü, who also subsequently got elected as Speaker for Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The programme was held at the Heritage Village, Kisama.
Speaking on the occasion, Yhoshü attributed his success to his supporters from the constituency. He highlighted that development of the area and human development would be his priorities and also expressed his enthusiasm to work for the welfare of the Naga people as a whole based on the suggestions given by the people.
While acknowledging that every village will have its own needs, Yhoshü underscored that the welfare of the general public must always come first. He also mentioned that his plans and programmes include road development, welfare of the community, skill development for both unemployed educated and uneducated youth particularly in his constituency.
Asserting that the Speaker post was a very dignified post, he admitted of never having thought of holding that office. “My being appointed is all due to your efforts- my supporters, well wishers and party functionaries,” Yhoshü said. Towards this end, he assured to give his best to work for the welfare of both public and his people with sincerity, dedication and honesty.
Advisor of Angami Public Organisation (APO), Dr. Vilhousa Seleyi, in his brief message, stressed the need for all the elected representatives to strive towards helping the people across the state. He appealed to all the elected members not to leave behind the constituencies or areas of those in opposition and those who lost in the elections particularly in matters of development.
Class-I contractor and a prominent personality of the constituency, Vilelie Khamo candidly stated that while Yhoshü might not have delivered to the expectations of the constituency people as regards to his election slogan – ‘to overcome bad with good,’ he should give his sincerest to uplift his area people, who have voted him to power for the third consecutive time this year. He also asked the NLA speaker to let the NDPP slogan to bring change begin from his actions.
Meanwhile, NDPP Kohima region president Avio Tetso acknowledged the efforts of each party member and congratulated the Southern Angami-I constituency people for emerging victorious in the election. He assured that the party would strive to deliver good governance for as long as it was in power.
