Kohima, Nov. 4 (EMN): Advisor and senior principal secretary to the chief minister, Toshi Aier, has urged the Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) officers to have a strong bonding amongst them during their tenures of serving the Naga society.

Addressing the 44th general conference of the Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) on November 4 at ATI conference hall, Aier, while underlining the crucial role played by the administrative officers, encouraged them to work collectively in the larger interest of the public.

“The need of building up a team is very important. The determination to serve in your best capacity will pull you through when you face difficult times,” Aier said adding that “the future of the State will depend so much on how the NCS officers render their service during their times.”

Aier also advised the officers to give their best in the effort to win the trust of the people. “Half the game is won when you win the trust of the people,” he added.

“You have to understand the crucial reality of the society. The dynamics have changed completely,” he said making a comparison with the past years.

Delivering the NCSA presidential address, Kevekha Kevin Zehol urged upon the members to reaffirm themselves to render their best for the Naga society.

“We have miles to go before we sleep despite the dilapidated office/residential buildings, the pathetic attached vehicles and the horrible road conditions, for we are given the responsibility to better off the lives of the people who are placed under our administrative jurisdictions,” Zehol asserted.

“Can we take a stand and recommit ourselves on this 44th general conference and pledge ourselves that in every place of our postings, be it in the district or in whatever department, we will leave our footprints and people will reap the harvest for the service you and I have rendered,” he urged.

“Let us also reaffirm our family bond and be concerned for fellow members by not lobbying for cream/choice of postings so that everyone gets a fair deal in as far as postings are concerned,” NCSA president stated.

On the day, NCSA also felicitated the recipients of the Governor’s Gold Medal award and also the awardees of the Governor’s Commendation Certificate. Felicitations were also extended to retired NCS officers and those NCS members, who were inducted into IAS during 2016-2017, while NCSA meritorious award were also given to some of its members.

Toilet in fuel stations
It has come to notice that the Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) has taken up with the government to ensure that facilities like toilet and drinking water are available in refuelling centres/stations (Petrol pumps).

During the NCSA 44th general conference at ATI, Kohima, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, in his presidential address, informed that they (NCSA) have submitted a letter to the chief secretary with the request to take up the matter with concerned authorities so as to ensure that such facilities are in place in each fuel station in the State.

“The fact is that in each litre, six paise and four paise are already inbuilt into the cost of petrol/diesel respectively. The amount that is already inbuilt into the cost is supposed to be utilised by the proprietors to provide facilities like toilet and drinking water in their respective fuel stations,” NCSA president said.
