NCP MLA L Khumo joins NPF

NCP MLA L.Khumo has joined the Naga People’s Front.
Chief Minister & Leader of NPF Legislature Party TR Zeliang in a letter to NLA Speaker informed that Khumo has merged with the NPF in accordance with the law laid down by the Gauhati High Court and requested to show him as NPF member in Assembly records with effect from November 26, 2015.
“With the presentation of the claim of merger in the format required under the Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 2003 along with the other supporting documents to the Speaker, NLA on November 26 by L Khumo, NCP MLA claiming his merger with the Naga People’s Front, the said MLA has become Member of the Legislative Party of the NPF, of which I am the Leader, with effect from the presentation of his claim.”
Zeliang said, “Since the MLA has merged with the NPF in accordance with the law laid down by the Gauhati High Court in writ appeals Nos. 297 & 298 of 2014 (judgment delivered on 12.11.2014), he is protected against disqualification on ground of defection. In terms of Rule 4 of the members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 2003, the MLA has changed his party affiliation from NCP to NPF with effect from November 26 this year. I, therefore, request you to show him as NPF Member in your Assembly records w .e. f. 26.11.2015 pending issuance of appropriate order by you protecting him against disqualification under the said Rules.”
