NCC girls do their bit for Swachhta Samaroh

Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls of St. Joseph’s College of Jakhama under the guidance of its Associate Officer Lt. Regina Razousinuo organised Swachhta Samaroh (Hindi for cleanliness programme) from May 1 to 15th in Kohima. Updates from the NCC member informed on Thursday.
The programme was stated to have been a curtain raiser to Maha Swachhta Abhiyan being planned to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Oct. 2 2019.
Besides undertaking activities such as cleaning of statues, and surroundings of Kohima’s Cathedral Church, the cadets also conducted rally from Aradura to Mohonkhola, door-to-door campaign, essay, and pencil sketch competitions, arm wrestling and mini-marathon.
Further, the NCC conducted lectures on the meaning of Swachhta Samaroh, conversion of waste to wealth and disposal of e-waste at Trinity School at New Reserve, and St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School at Lerie.
As a concluding remarked, the cadets organised seminar at Little Flower Higher Secondary School of Kohima based on the theme ‘essence of swachhta.’ The NCC girls from seven other colleges in Kohima including Modern College, Sazolie College, Kohima College, and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School etc attended the event. The institutions’ representatives participated in speaking about the topics related to the theme of the seminar. Altogether, 62 cadets and four associate NCC officers attended the seminar.
