NBCC team attends youth conference in Philippines

Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): A total of 70 youth from different tribal churches represented Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) at the Asia Pacific Baptist Youth Conference (APBY) held at Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary, Baguio city, from May 21 to 24 on the theme “Making and multiplying disciples” (2 Timothy 2:2).

The highlights of the conference included worships, workshops, plenary sessions, devotions, praise and worship, ministry expo, family groups, cultural presentations, Baguio city tour and youth stage. The conference was attended by 712 young people from 20 countries in Asia Pacific.

NBCC youth secretary, Rev. Vikuo Rhi stated that a Cantamus choir comprising of different tribal churches in Dimapur and Kohima performed both in devotionals as well as in cultural programme. Resource persons and programme participants from Nagaland included Asha Sanchu, Aroko Nagi, Tiakumzuk, Imnatoshi Longkumer, Rev. Vikuo Rhi, and Mhaseve Tetseo.

NBCC youth has expressed pride in the person of Rev. Dr. Vesekhoyi Tetseo for being the general secretary of Asia Pacific Baptist Federation and pastor Imnatoshi Longkumer as chairperson of APBY. The youth has particularly congratulated pastor Imnatoshi for his successful leadership as chairperson of APBY for the last four years tenure (2015-2019).

It added that NBCC team comprising of 22 members visited Manila, the capital city of Philippines, on May 25 and 26 and attended the Sunday service on May 26 at the international church called “Christ Commission Fellowship.”

The team returned to Nagaland on May 28.

NBCC youth have also congratulated the newly elected team of APBY led by Steve Dixon from Baptist Convention of Australia, as the chairperson, Jacob Cobtea from Baptist Church of Mizoram as vice chairperson, Ireina Ruth from Union of Indonesian Baptist Churches, Lakna Premawardane from Baptist Churches of Sri Lanka, Za Uk Sang from Myanmar Baptist Convention, and Franco Ferrer from Luzon Convention Southern Baptist Churches.

The next APBY conference would be hosted by the Malaysia Baptist Convention in 2024.
