NBA and MDBA gear up for 3rd NVOBC

The Nagaland badminton Association (NBA) and Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) will be jointly organizing the “Third Nagaland Veterans open Badminton Championship” at Mokokchung from October 23rd to 24th, 2015. This was informed by the organizers during a press conference at Black & White Restaurant on Monday evening.
The convener Lipokonen Jamir and Secretary Er Toshikaba informed that the tourney will be a ranking event, which is first of its kind in Nagaland. They said, “The Nagaland badminton Association under the dynamic leadership of Y. Vikheho Swu, minister of Roads & Bridge and President, NBA is introducing such ranking tournament in Badminton for the first time in the state to provide more opportunities for the players to compete.”They also mention that under -13 and under -15 categories will also be included in the championship for ranking assessment. The attractive feature in the tourney is that top ranked players will be selected to represent the state in various major tournaments organized by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
For the first time veteran single event as well all veteran categories is also introduced as per the Badminton World Federation criteria in this two-day tourney. The umpires for the tournament will be initiated by NBA. The tournament will be comprised of veteran’s men 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+ & 55+ for both single and double events. The Sub-Junior (Boys & Girls) comprise of- under 13 & 15 for both single double events.
They also stated that MDBA had been organizing the Nagaland Veterans open Badminton Championship since 2013. The winners in the tournament will be given cash along with certificates.
The entry fee per category for the veterans and sub-junior will be rupees 1000 and 500 respectively. The last date for submission of entries is 19th of October 2015. Further information about the tournament can be obtained by contacting the organizers 9436831221/9436016196/9089663946.
The Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) has also informed to all the interested chess player to participate to RGS international open rating chess tournament 2015 which is scheduled from October 18th to 23th at Guwahati organize by Guwahati chess club under recognise by Assam Chess Association, AICF & FIDE, with total prize fund Rs. 5,01500/ ( Five lakhs one thousand five hundred) only.
