Imphal, Nov. 26 (EMN): The 64th edition of the National School Games (Taekwondo) was formally inaugurated at the indoor hall of the Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal on Mon. Nov. 26.
Manipur Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu, Joint Directors Kh Pramoda Devi (Sports) and L Jayentakumar Singh (Planning), other officials of the state youth affairs and sports besides organising committee representatives attended the inaugural function.
Altogether about 500 taekwondo players (including 280 boys) U-14 years representing 30 teams including 25 states of the country are taking part in the five-day competition, according to tournament director LM Singh. Forty eight technical officials are also participating in the games.
The main competition among boys (U-18 kg to 41kg above) and girls (U-16 kg to 38kg above) players will be started under 11 different categories at the indoor hall of the country’s most advanced sports complex here from 9 am on Tuesday.
Interestingly players from four north eastern states including host Manipur (17 including 10 boys), Assam (17 including 10 boys), Nagaland (11 boys) and Mizoram (14 including 7 boys) are also participating in the national games.
