National Panchayat Day observes in Manipur

Imphal, April 24 (EMN): National Panchayat Day observation was held in Imphal on Monday. State’s Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, its Parliamentary Secretary Heikham Dingo Singh, Health & Welfare Parliamentary Secretary Soibam Subhaschandra Singh, MAHUD Parliamentary Secretary N Indrajit Singh, RD & PR Secretary Sumant Singh attended the observation at Panchayat Bhavan in Imphal. Speaking on the occasion Minister Biswajit said efforts are on to complete the under-construction Zilla Parishad offices at Porompat within 65 days from today. He also expressed the need to upgrade the Rural Development & PanchayatiRaj department to a major department. He further stated that issuance of birth certificates will soon be made possible through electronic modes. He also said that the government is targeting construction of 10,000 houses under the Housing for All Scheme, which will be launched soon.
