Hindi fourth most spoken language in world: Minister

New Delhi, Sep. 14 (IANS): Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world, Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Thursday. He said all languages in India originated from Sanskrit “and Hindi is the most convenient language for most of the population. “Hindi … (is) the fourth most spoken language of the world. Wish everyone on Hindi Day,” he tweeted.

Delhi’s most wanted criminal Sonu Dariyapur arrested

New Delhi, Sep. 14 (IANS): Delhi’s most wanted criminal Sonu Dariyapur, who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was arrested following an encounter here in the early hours of Thursday, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said the accused was arrested from Narela area of north Delhi at around 5.30 a.m. According to Yadav, Dariyapur, who was riding a Hyundai i20 car, fired at the police team. They returned the fire, but no one was injured. Two pistols and 17 live cartridges were recovered from the accused.

Hyderabad woman spends night on street with son’s body

Hyderabad, Sep. 14 (IANS): A woman spent a night on the street and in rain with the body of her 10-year-old son here as the house owner did not allow the body inside the house. The shocking incident took place in Venkateshwar Nagar in Kukatpally area on Wednesday night. Eswaramma and her younger son sat with the body of Suresh, who died of dengue. House owner Jagdish Gupta showed no mercy even though it was raining heavily. Some locals arranged tarpaulin covers and also brought a body box. Residents condemned his inhuman act and collected donations for the last rites.The woman, hailing from Mahabubnagar district, was living on rent with her two sons for the last four years.

Rajasthan HC seeks report on death of infants in Banswara

Jodhpur, Sep. 14 (IANS): The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday took suo moto cognisance of reported deaths of at least 90 infants at M.G. Hospital in Banswara and sought a detailed report from the state government. A division bench headed by the Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog termed the matter “very serious”. The court had taken cognisance of a report published in a Hindi daily a few days ago, and ordered the Legal Services Authority (LSA) to conduct an enquiry therein. An enquiry report was thereafter prepared by LSA and submitted to the court. Banswara district, which is mainly a tribal area, has a population of 20 lakh and has only one government hospital.

UAE relaxes visa rules for Indians

New Delhi, Sep. 14 (IANS): The UAE on Thursday announced a relaxation in visa rules for Indians, which it said was part of the strengthening of bilateral ties. In a statement, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to India Ahmed Albanna said the UAE cabinet on Wednesday (September 13) decided to grant visa on arrival to Indian passport holders with residence visa from UK and the European Union. The move would be a key facilitator of people-to-people ties between the two friendly countries.

Two terror suspects arrested in Bihar

Patna, Sep. 14 (IANS): Two terror suspects including one accused in the 2008 Ahmedabad bomb blast case were arrested in Bihar’s Gaya district on Thursday, police said. According to police officials, the Bihar Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) along with the district police arrested the two terror suspects including Taushif, who was allegedly involved in the Ahmedabad bomb blast of 2008, in Gaya town. According to police, Taushif was wanted in the Ahmedabad bomb blast case but he was absconding. Both the suspects, arrested near a cyber cafe, were residing in Gaya after changing their identity. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and a Gujarat ATS team are likely to visit Gaya to question the two, police said.
