Nagas in Myanmar resolve to safeguard Naga identity

Dimapur, July 1: The Nagas in Myanmar and Layshi Township Culture, Tradition and Literature Committee passed a “strong” resolution to strengthen and safeguard “Naga customary system” and identity during a two-day meeting held at Layshi town, Naga Self-administered Zone, Upper Sagaing, Myanmar on June 28 and 29th, a reliable source told Eastern Mirror.

All the tribal bodies along with advisory board members and officials of the Naga Students and Youth Federation (NSYF) attended the meeting where the resolution was passed. The house also decided to take “pragmatic steps to move forward.”

Chairman of Township Naga Hoho, Layshi, Juvsiihthong Jongs addressed the gathering and stressed on the need to “reorganise and improve its structure” and update itself with the changing times.
