Kohima, March 13 (EMN): Hectic preparations are underway as the 26th Nagaland Wrestling Meet for 12th senior and 4th junior freestyle wrestling will take place on Wed. March 14 at Khuochiezie (Kohima local ground).
Former president of the NWA Keku Zeliang will be the main guest on day-1 and oath taking by Visakhoto Krose, technical secretary Nagaland Wrestling Association. Events on day-1 will begin from 10 am onwards.
The event is managed by Angami Baptist Khriesaru Krotho in aid of construction of multi-crore ABCC Youth Centre at Chumukedima.
Unlike the past tournament, this time the freestyle wrestling will take place on March 14 and Naga style wrestling on March 15.
The concept of changing the new category was solely to attract more spectators for freestyle wrestling, said a NWA official.
For freestyle, the senior category winner will receive INR 10,000 while the runner-up will pocket INR 7000.
The tickets for gallery are priced at INR 100, chair- INR 500 and donor- INR 2000, while food stalls are also set up for spectators.
Apart from the three units of NWA, wrestlers from Wrestling Academy will also participate in the freestyle wrestling. In free style (senior), weight category for men will be 57, 65, 74, 86 and 97. Weight category for women is 50, 55, 59, 65 and 72.
