Nagaland students shine at India international science festival

Dimapur, Oct. 10 (EMN): Nagaland school students made the State proud at the India International Science Festival held at Lucknow from Oct. 5 to 8  by winning top prizes at the North East Students Conclave which was a part of the four day long largest science festival of Asia. Altogether, the state team bagged 6 prizes at the event.

Thirty seven presentations were made by students from the seven North Eastern States on the theme ‘developmental prospects of North East’ at the conclave.  Shoniu Shiu, a class 11 student of Baptist High Kohima, secured the First position in the presentation. Lemchila Sangtam , a class 11 student from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Tuensang and Kikasangla , a class 12 student from Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School Dimapur secured the Second prizes.  Metsongmalem M Chang , class 11 student  of GHSS Tuensang and Yaikomba Thingujam, class 10 student of Holy Cross HSS Dimapur bagged the third Prizes and Anushka Bhattacharjee, class 11 student of Pranab Vidayapit HSS, Dimapur received the Consolation Prize.

Eminent scientists from premier institutions of the country who were jury for the presentations were very much impressed by the talents exhibited by the students from Nagaland and encouraged them to pursue scientific research as career for the development of the region and the country. They assured all possible help for guiding the students from the State to pursue studies in various research oriented programmes.

The Nagaland team comprised 25 students and 5 teachers from Govt. HSS, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Ungma, Phek, Mon, Tuensang , Holy Cross HSS Dimapur , Pranab Vidyabith HSS Dimapur, Baptist High Kohima,  Mezhur HSS Kohima and Queen Marry HSS Mokokchong and was coordinated  by Nellayappan, Asstt. Director.

The school education department, Nagaland has congratulated all the winners and participants for bringing laurels to the State and appreciated the efforts and support of the guide teachers, school authorities and parents that leads to this achievement .
