Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): The Coming Generation (TCG), a non profit organisation based in Kohima, has continued with its campaign in order to motivate the public discouraging use of plastic bags in Nagaland.

The organisation has conducted an awareness programme at Naga Bazaar Baptist Thenoko Krotho on June 21 on the theme “Nagaland says no to plastic.”

TCG has initiated the campaign ‘Nagaland for change’ as one of the social action programme for better Nagaland. The objective of the campaign was to spread awareness on the ill effects of plastic pollutions and the threat it pose on eco-system.

During the programme, organisers have motivated the people to use bio-degradable bags in order to maintain ecological balance. The organisers have undertaken the campaign to motivate public using bio-degradable items which are available in the market.

The campaign called for mass participation from all aspects of life.

At the awareness programme, which was held in women’s prayer service, speaker Alice Kamei, TCG programme coordinator, called upon the women to start the change from oneself to rediscover the habit of using clothe bags, paper bags, fabric bags which are degradable. She also challenged that women would be playing vital role in minimising the use of plastics bags.

Pointing out that God has given us the ‘green earth,’ she insisted that it should be the bounden responsibility of each individual as a Christian to care and protect the earth.
